Loving Loki

There are multiple aspects to any given deity,  and Loki is no exception.  It’s almost as if one will have his/her own  ‘version’  of Loki as a patron deity,  and any mortal companion to that aspect of his archetype is a representation of a consort  (whether romantic or not;  traditionally,  priestesses are tantamount to mortal consorts of the Gods).  This is not to say that a devotee of Loki is a literal replacement or incarnation of the Goddess Sigyn  (for instance),  just that the devotee is a mortal correspondent of her archetype for the aspect of Loki with whom the devotee has bonded.

I have heard accounts of how modern Lokean spouses feel a need to compete with one another for the title of  ‘best wife’  of the Trickster.  Relax:  There are many aspects/personifications of Loki,  and plenty of him to go around.  Every devotee has his/her own personal connection to his archetype,  so no one is truly in competition for his favor or affection  (and it seems foolish and pointless to compete in the first place).

Just as there are many aspects to Loki’s archetype,  there are also various ways to worship him.  No one has to marry him or become romantically involved;  bonding and love take many forms,  and the exact path of devotion chosen largely depends on whatever feels right for the individual.  Loki’s energy may seem erratic to some,  but if approached with sincere intention,  he will work with you,  not against you.  He is a deity who often makes his own rules,  so never feel a need to follow him in a particular way just because others are doing it.  Be yourself,  and Loki will appreciate your devotion.

Language And Projection

Some may wonder,  what languages do Deities speak or understand?  Truth be told,  they comprehend them all.  The spiritual planes and various Pantheons are not restricted by such things in the same manner as physical entities.  Ancestry may make some followers strongly  connected to particular Higher Powers of related Pantheons,  but no one must be shut out from whatever spiritual path feels right.

“Projection”  is the ability to send out energy to spiritual sources  (such as Deities),  via thoughts and feelings.  It matters not what language is actually spoken by a physical entity to a Divine one;  it is intention,  determination,  and feelings which get the message across,  as if by automatic translation.  Gazing at a chosen image for a Deity  (whether art created by the worshiper,  or inspiration sparked by the creation of others),  expressing love and devotion,  sincere intent through words,  thoughts and actions,  will all be conveyed with pure clarity.  In turn,  Deities will project replies in whatever language a worshiper uses.

This phenomenon is not limited to Higher Powers;  communication with animals has a similar effect  (it is no coincidence that shamans have worked spiritually with animals over many ages),  as does projecting to plants,  crystals and anything else of nature.  Animals are most likely empathetic to human emotions due to projection;  while watching horses over a fence one day,  I suffered a depressive episode.  A beautiful golden dun gelding immediately approached me,  allowing me to pet him.  He kept me company until my tears subsided.  I have always felt a strong spiritual connection to horses  (mainly as an artist),  so this encounter was indeed healing.

Projecting to the Earth itself is a profound way of attuning to its energies.  The spiritual planes encompass all levels of existence,  and there are a myriad of projection methods.  Artists seem to possess a deep understanding of this,  simply due to the passion often imbued in their creative works  (which I always experience).  Even those not artistically inclined,  can vicariously work with similar energies;  inspiration from art is open to everyone.

Prayer is the most well-known form of projection,  but formal prayers are not always necessary to make strong spiritual connections.  Personal devotion to my patron deity Loki is projected daily,  with true loving intentions.  If such sincerity is expressed to a Higher Power,  a deep bond will form without judgment or limitation.

Painful Developments

Forgive the silence;  I have experienced some personal crises recently.   I came to stay with Uncle Steve in late 2014,  and he passed away  (of diabetes complications)  on February 27th.  I am presently looking for a new residence,  and will do my best to contribute new articles to my blog as I have time.  Many thanks to those who take interest in my writings.
